Gijs focuses on collective actions and commercial disputes. With more than eight years of experience in Dutch mass claim proceedings, he belongs to the generation of lawyers who helped shape the WAMCA practice from its inception.
Gijs primarily acts for interest groups and claimant collectives in proceedings involving liability law, consumer protection, and collective settlement of damages. In addition, he has extensive experience with mass settlements and proceedings in both first instance and on appeal. Gijs regularly publishes on developments in civil procedural law and collective dispute resolution, and is recognized in the market as a specialist in collective actions.
Gijs obtained his Master of Laws in Corporate Law from Erasmus University Rotterdam. Additionally, he completed the postgraduate specialization program in National and International Contract Law at the Grotius Academy. Gijs advises and litigates in Dutch and English.
