Patrick Haas

Patrick is one of the leading lawyers in the Netherlands in the field of collective actions and mass claims. He advises interest groups, claim foundations, institutional investors, and litigation funders in complex national and international disputes where substantial financial, societal, and reputational interests converge.

About Patrick

With his combination of deep litigation experience and an MBA background, Patrick approaches disputes from a legal as well as a strategic and commercial perspective. That multidisciplinary approach enables him to effectively structure complex cases, sharply analyze opportunities and risks, and guide clients in making strategic decisions in high-impact proceedings.

Patrick is valued for his sharp analyses, pragmatic approach, and ability to provide direction in large-scale proceedings that often span multiple years and jurisdictions.

Approach

Before founding Asteriq, Patrick led the litigation practice at AKD, which consisted of approximately forty lawyers. In that role, he was responsible for some of the practice’s largest and most high-profile disputes.

Patrick played a key role in several leading collective proceedings, including cases arising from the diesel emissions scandal, privacy proceedings against Big Tech companies such as Amazon and X, and proceedings following the Wirecard scandal. In addition, he possesses extensive experience with cross-border disputes where issues of jurisdiction, applicable law, and the alignment of proceedings across multiple jurisdictions play a central role.

He regularly advises on the development and execution of international litigation strategies, closely aligning legal, commercial, and funding aspects to achieve the most effective result possible for clients.
